July 13th, 2007:
I have just received the package containing my author's copies of "Laura's War", and it's a funny but also strange feeling. My mother once called my books my babies, and I guess this baby is ready to leave the house, and leave me with a certain empty nest sensation. Anyhow, I hope you'll enjoy reading "Laura's War" as much as I enjoyed writing it. I feel that with this book I was able to do what I had secretly dreamed of for a long time: I wanted to tell the life story of a murder victim, and make it as much about her life as her death. Yes, "Laura's War" is fiction, and I'm not pretending to tell the story of a real person's life. It was more about the process itself, the fulfillment it meant for me to be able to look at a dead character and pay as much attention to the details of who she was before she got killed as to the story of her murder and it's investigation.
If this sounds somewhat enigmatic, just read the book, and let me know how you like Laura and the characters around her. Anna Spring, my detective, will take you with her on the crazy ride of exploring what happened to Laura, and how she was perceived by the world. And yes: There is sex, and shootings, and kind of a car chase, and dark mansions, and a mysterious stranger . . . :-) Everything a self-respecting mystery novel should have.

August 2nd, 2006:
I've made the July 1st deadline to send in the manuscript for my next mystery with Anna Spring. The working title is "Laura's War", and the book will appear in 2007. The plot is not as centered around science as in "The Next World", but nevertheless Anna has to muster the full force of her mind as well as all the courage she possesses in order to solve the mystery. And all that with a broken heart! But this time Martha, her obnoxious, brilliant neighbor, has turned into a true ally. I hope you'll find my next book a good read, and let me know what you think about it!
